PHYSIOLOGICAL DETERMINANTS OF SHORT TRAIL RUNNING

چکیده

The recent worldwide popularity of trail running has raised the necessity studying physiological profile this sport. Although races are long distance endurance events, variety their terrain, incline and duration prevents application classical predictive model level running. Thus, aim present study was to investigate anthropometric parameters that determine short race performance. Twenty-five moderately trained runners participated in a 15 km race, consisting 9 positive 6 negative incline. Four days after they followed laboratory protocol for measurement estimation (maximal oxygen uptake, velocity at maximal ventilatory threshold, economy, flexibility, muscle power, aerobic capacity). The results revealed high correlations between performance uptake (r = 0.81), threshold 0.88), power knee extensor 0.50 – 0.53), anaerobic capacity 0.65) body fat percentage 0.7). Another two were highly correlated with mountain both time 0.95 r 0.96, respectively). Our conclusions confirmed previous findings cannot be predicted same variable as running.

Article visualizations:

Calf Compression Sleeves Change Biomechanics but Not Performance and Physiological Responses in Trail Running
Introduction: The aim of this study was to determine whether calf compression sleeves (CS) affects physiological and biomechanical parameters, exercise performance, and perceived sensations of muscle fatigue, pain and soreness during prolonged (~2 h 30 min) outdoor trail running. Methods: Fourteen healthy trained males took part in a randomized, cross-over study consisting in two identical 24-k...
متن کاملAnthropometric and Physiological Determinants of Running Performance in Middle- and Long-distance Runners
The aim of the present study was to compare anthropometric, body composition and physiological parameters in middleand long-distance runners of the same performance level and to identify variables that could predict the probability of being either a middleor a long-distance runner. National-level middledistance (n=20, body mass M=70.5, SD=6.3 kg, body height M=1.80, SD=0.04 m,) and long-distanc...
متن کاملPhysiological determinants of the pulmonary filtration coefficient.
Current emphasis on translational application of genetic models of lung disease has renewed interest in the measurement of the gravimetric filtration coefficient (K(f)) as a means to assess vascular permeability changes in isolated perfused lungs. The K(f) is the product of the hydraulic conductivity and the filtration surface area, and is a sensitive measure of vascular fluid permeability when...
متن کاملTRAIL effect on osteoclast formation in physiological and pathological conditions.
Although osteoclasts (OCs) differentiate under the control of RANK/RANKL/OPG system, a number of inflammatory cytokines can contribute to increase osteoclastogenesis in diseases associated with bone loss. Recently, different studies indicate that TRAIL is implicated in modulating osteoclastogenesis. Here, we investigated the effect of TRAIL on OC formation in physiological and pathological cond...
متن کاملThe Functional Determinants of Short-Term Memory
A functional, perceptual-motor, account of serial short-term memory is examined by investigating the way in which an irrelevant spoken sequence interferes with verbal serial recall. Even with visual list-presentation, verbal serial recall is particularly susceptible to disruption by irrelevant spoken stimuli that have the same identity as—but which are order-incongruent with— the to-be-remember...
